Announcement!

As of August 27th, 2011

The Harpeth and West Harpeth Rivers are too low to paddle at this time.  We want to provide a GREAT paddling experience and now is not the right time.  August and September are low rainfall months here in Franklin.  A couple days of hard rain can change things, so please stay in contact.

All coupons (like ActiveBuys) will be honored this year and next.

Westhaven Lake is still open for boat rentals--
most weekends 4:00 until dark.

Westhaven Lake: Hourly boat rentals

Canoes—small enough for one yet comfortable for two

Kayaks—one person only with sit on top designs.
You will get wet so bring your swimming suit.

        Paddle boats—Great for two people.
A great option for kids or unskilled paddlers.

Hourly Rates:  $10 per boat ($5 per additional hour)

Westhaven Lake: Pirate Birthday Parties
Boats, treasure maps and pirates!  What could be more fun for a birthday party?  For three hours, the party gets exclusive use of the Paddle Dog Adventures boats.  Plus, we sink five pieces of a coded treasure map around the lake. Buried treasure awaits those who successfully decipher the code.

Bring your food and cake and enjoy the two picnic tables and shady umbrellas.

Price: $150.

Harpeth River Adventures

enjoy a lazy day on the Harpeth or the West Harpeth River. Both are slow and easy Class I rivers.  Though they can be swift after heavy rains, they are most often gentle flows.  Expect to get in and out of your boat to portage over shoals and shallow riffles.  Skinny water is more fun.

Watch for wildlife like the great blue heron who will guide you down river, kingfishers that swoop for insects, osprey that dive for fish and otters that wonder what you are doing on their river.

Paddle Dog Adentures will outfit you and transport you to and from the river.  No river guides will accompany you (unless you hire one), so the adventure is all yours.  You may request a guide (for safety, entertainment, or an eco-tour), but one week advance notice is required.

All adventures begin and end at the Paddle Dog Adventures boathouse at the corner of Front Street and Westhaven Blvd.

fishing

Westhaven Lake
The lake is stocked with bass, sunfish, carp, and catfish, and you are welcome to fish if you rent a boat or fishing equipment. (Westhaven residents can fish without having to rent). You can bring your own equipment or rent from Paddle Dog Adventures.  This is a catch and release only lake.  All Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) regulations apply; adults will need a fishing license.

Local Rivers
You are welcome to fish while you paddle as long as you adhere to TWRA regulations.  Note that fishing increases the time required to travel down river.  let Paddle Dog Adventures know
if you intend to fish so we can know when to expect you at the take out point.

Fly Fishing Lessons
Several experienced fly fishermen are available to instruct individuals and groups of novice and advanced fly casters.  Call Paddle Dog Adventures to schedule a lesson or monitor the site for group sessions.

A necessary note on fishing regulations
If you do not adhere to TWRA regulations, Paddle Dog Adventures is not be liable for penalties or fines you face.  If Paddle Dog Adventures equipment is confiscated due
to your failure to comply with regulations, you will be charged immediately with replacing the equipment.
